The Circus Stars model is flexible and can be tailor made to suit the needs and learning culture of your school. The classes generally run for a one hour duration.
Classes are generally capped at 10 students maximum with two circus trainers working together and we require one of your staff to be present during the class, this can be a teacher or special education support worker on hand who knows the students Smaller groups are capped at 6 students with one trainer and a teacher or special education support worker from your team assisting.
* Group dynamic is taken into account when deciding on the required amount of trainers needed for each class. For a high needs group we cap it at 5 and anything above that requires a second trainer present- this ensures safety and quality of learning.
Circus Stars runs predominantly as a mixed age and mixed ability program, however this can be interchangeable depending on the needs of the group we are working with. Circus Stars currently works with the age range of 3-13 years.
Here are some suggested models:
AGE SPECIFIC : The age specific program breaks students into age brackets and the duration of the class and the activities within it are tailored to the age group, suggested age bracket break downs are: 3-5 years, 6-9 years 10-12 years.
MIXED AGE PROGRAM: The mixed age program allows students from 3-13 to work alongside each other in the same class. With one to one tailored teaching occurring where ever possible, as the model is flexible we are able to teach a wide range of ages and skills together. After all human pyramids requires big kids to hold the little kids up and vis verse!
ABILITY AND NEEDS BASED PROGRAM: The ability and needs based program is tailored to specific areas in which students need support and development the most. Such as low muscle tone and weak motor skills etc, or non-verbal and high needs etc. These classes are capped at a maximum of 5 students to ensure one-to-one learning.
MIXED ABILITY AND NEEDS PROGRAM: As stated earlier, Circus Stars enjoy working with a mixture of ages and abilities all together in the one class! Sounds like chaos, however the method we use works to thread the needs and idiosyncrasies together to provide a successful group dynamic.
